Starting Mounjaro at 52: My Honest Week-by-Week Diary (Real Numbers, Real Fibrosis)
A note before you read on: This site documents my personal experience with Mounjaro (tirzepatide), under the care of my endocrinologist. It’s not medical advice — everyone responds differently to treatment, and any decisions about your own health should be made with your doctor.
At 52, I’ve lived with Type 2 diabetes for 15 years, alongside excess weight and Grade 2 fatty liver disease.
Like a lot of people, I tried to improve things through diet, exercise, and medication first. Some of it helped for a while — but I still wasn’t getting the blood sugar control or sustainable weight loss I needed.
After reviewing my history and test results with my endocrinologist, we decided Mounjaro was the right next step. It wasn’t a quick or casual decision — it followed real conversations about risks, benefits, and a plan for ongoing monitoring.
My Starting Point
Here’s where I stood before my first injection:
| Measurement | Starting Value |
|---|---|
| Age | 52 |
| Height | 173 cm |
| Starting Weight | 108.3 kg |
| Waist | 46.5 inches |
| Type 2 Diabetes | Yes — 15 years |
| Fatty Liver | Grade 2 |
| HbA1c | 7.4 |
| Mounjaro Starting Dose | 2.5 mg weekly |
| Goal Weight | 75 kg |
As my treatment progresses, I’ll share how these numbers — and my lab trends — move over time, in the weekly updates linked below.
My Goals
I’m not chasing a dramatic before-and-after. My goals are realistic, and built for the long haul:
- Better blood sugar control
- Sustainable, steady weight loss
- A smaller waist circumference
- Improvement in my fatty liver
- More consistent energy
- Healthier everyday eating habits
- Preserving muscle while losing fat
- Habits I can actually keep for years, not weeks
What You’ll Find Here
This isn’t just a weight-loss diary. Over time, I’ll be sharing:
- Weekly progress updates
- Blood sugar trends
- Side effects, and how I managed them
- Food choices and meal ideas
- Exercise and activity
- Medical appointments and follow-ups
- Lifestyle changes along the way
- Honest reflections on what worked — and what didn’t
Whenever I talk about medical information, I’ll always be clear about what’s evidence-based versus what’s simply been true for me.
My Weekly Journal
This section will grow with every week that passes.
Week 1 — First injection, early appetite changes, initial blood sugar readings, side effects, and a few things that genuinely surprised me. (Link coming soon)
Week 2 onward — Coming soon.
My Commitment to Transparency
Everything here comes from my real, lived experience.
If I hit a plateau, I’ll write about it. If side effects show up, I’ll write about them. If something doesn’t work the way I hoped, I’ll say so plainly.
I’m not here to convince anyone to take Mounjaro. I’m here to give you one honest account of one real journey, so you can learn from it and make your own informed decisions with your own doctor.
A Note About Medical Advice
Everyone’s health situation is different, and this site is never a substitute for advice from your doctor, endocrinologist, or dietitian.
If you’re considering Mounjaro or any GLP-1 medication, please talk to a healthcare provider who knows your individual history and needs.
